How can we help?
Simple answers for everything on Jamii: voting, groups, projects, records, and more. Tap a topic to jump to it, then tap a question to see the answer.
Getting started
What Jamii is and how to begin.
What is Jamii Projects Hub?
A place for communities to share project ideas, vote on what matters most, and keep clear, honest records, for the whole community and for your family, chama, or welfare group.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to look at projects, read details, or show interest. You only need a free account to vote as yourself, join a group, or keep your own records.
How do I create an account?
Tap âCreate accountâ at the top. Enter your name, email, and a password. It takes less than a minute and is free.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in page, tap âForgot password?â and we email you a link to set a new one. If email is not switched on yet, ask a group organizer or an admin to reset it for you.
How do I change the language?
Use the language picker at the top of the page to switch between English and Kiswahili. Your choice is remembered.
Projects & voting
Find projects and have your say.
How do I see community projects?
Tap âSee & vote on projectsâ on the home page, or âProjectsâ at the top. Youâll see a list you can open to read the full details.
How do I vote for a project?
Open the project. If you are logged in, tap the big âđ Vote for this projectâ button, thatâs it, one tap. If you are not logged in, tap âLog in to voteâ and we bring you right back.
What is the difference between showing interest and voting?
Anyone can show interest, it tells the community people care, but it is not a counted vote. A vote counts toward decisions and comes from a logged-in member or a verified community process.
Can I change or take back my vote?
Each account votes once per project. If you need to change it, contact a community organizer or admin.
How do I raise a concern about a project?
Open the project and use âRaise a concernâ. A coordinator reviews it privately, it is not shown to the public.
How do I comment on a project?
Open the project and use the comment box. Comments are public and are checked before they appear.
Support & pledges
How helping a project works, money is never taken early.
Can I give money to a project now?
Only when a projectâs support collection is open, which happens after community review. Until then, no money is collected.
What is a pledge?
A pledge is a promise to help later. While collection is closed you can record what you intend to support, and we remind you when it opens. No money is taken when you pledge.
How will I know when support opens?
Tap âGet notified about this projectâ on the project page to receive a notification. When you pledged with a phone or account, youâll be reminded to complete it.
Is my payment safe?
When support is open, payments are handled securely by a trusted payment service, and every payment is recorded for accountability.
Families, chamas & groups
Keep clear shared records for your group.
How do I start a family or group?
Tap âStart a family or groupâ on the home page (or âRequest accessâ). Tell us the group name and purpose. A community admin reviews it, then you can set it up.
How do I add members to my group?
Open your group, go to âMembers & rolesâ, and add each person. Add the email they will log in with so they can join.
I added my family but they canât join. Why?
A member joins when their record has the email they log in with. Open the member, tap âEdit memberâ, and add their email. If they already have an account they link at once; if not, they join the moment they sign up with that email.
How do members see the group they belong to?
When they log in, âMy groupsâ shows a âGroups you belong toâ section with the group and their role.
What are group roles?
Roles like Chairman, Treasurer, or Secretary say what each member does. The organizer assigns them under âMembers & rolesâ. Start with one leader, then add others.
Can a member be removed?
Yes, but never silently. Removals are recorded, and sensitive ones go for review, so records stay fair.
Records, forms & documents
Transparent records instead of scattered messages.
What records can we keep?
Community needs, project ideas, contributions and pledges, meetings, follow-up actions, and documents, all in one clear place instead of scattered WhatsApp messages.
Where do I find blank forms?
Tap âFormsâ at the top. Public forms are open to everyone to view and print.
Can I download a project notice?
Yes, organizers can download and print a clean one-page project notice from the projectâs admin page.
Notifications
Get reminders without SMS.
How do I get notifications?
On a project page, tap âGet notified about this projectâ and allow notifications once. Youâll get a message when support opens or thereâs an update.
It works better as an app. How does that work?
Open the site in your phone browser and choose âAdd to Home screenâ. It installs like an app and notifications work best that way (required on iPhone).
Privacy & safety
What is public and what is protected.
What can other people see?
Public projects, public forms, and public comments are open to everyone. Private group records, member details, phone numbers, and any finance records are protected.
Is this a loan or funding app?
No. Jamii is for community projects and group records. It does not guarantee funding, is not a bank or lender, and does not replace official government processes.
Who can change important things?
Privileged roles are given by admins only. Everyday members can take part, vote, and keep their groupâs records, nothing sensitive is exposed.
